Nuvoton unveils the NUC1263 series, a powerful 32-bit Arm Cortex-M23 microcontroller tailored for DDR5 gaming modules, delivering a 1.0V I3C interface and seamless gaming light control through an LLSI interface.

Hsinchu, Taiwan, January 25, 2024 - In the era of green energy, enterprises have a widespread focus on low power consumption. Electronic devices are progressively embracing energy-saving technologies, notably due to shifts in the power supply structure of DRAM modules and the growing demand for high-speed sensor buses, leading to increased adoption of the I3C interface. Nuvoton announces the release of the NUC1263 series, the first microcontroller to support the 1.0V voltage I3C interface for DDR5 modules, and it offers Nuvoton exclusive LLSI (LED Light Strip Interface) patented technology. This technology is not only applicable for controlling RGB light bars but also for controlling the new generation ARGB Gen 2 light bars.

The NUC1263 series operates at a frequency of up to 72 MHz, with built-in 64 KB Flash and up to 20 KB SRAM, functioning in a wide operating voltage range of 2.5V to 5.5V and a temperature range of - 40℃ to 105℃. This series provides two I3C interfaces with input voltages ranging from 1V to 3.6V, compliant with the MIPI I3C v1.0 standard. It is particularly suitable for DDR5 gaming light modules, eliminating the need for additional voltage conversion (Level shifter) components. Additionally, it seamlessly integrates with the simplicity of I²C and the high-speed capabilities of SPI, supporting up to 12.5 Mbps transfer rate. With dynamic addressing, In-Band interrupt, and Hot-Join functions, it streamlines sensor management, boosting system responsiveness and scalability—an optimal solution for IoT and sensor applications.

The NUC1263 series offers six channels of the LLSI (LED Light Strip Interface), allowing control of RGB light bars and the new generation ARGB Gen 2 light bars. Compared to traditional SPI-controlled light bars, it utilizes less than 1/3 of SRAM resources, enabling software developers to use system resources more efficiently and reduce the complexity of software development. Additionally, it supports up to 24 channels of high-speed PWM and nine channels of 50mA High sink current pins. Apart from the core voltage, this series provides two sets of power supply IOs (VDDIO supply pins), each capable of operating at different voltage ranges, making it more adaptable to various external device voltage standards and seamlessly integrating into multiple applications.

The series offers a variety of packaging options, including QFN33, QFN48, LQFP48, and LQFP64, allowing developers to choose the most suitable model flexibly according to product specifications. It is also compatible with other Nuvoton product series, ensuring pin compatibility among the same packaging models and assisting developers in flexibly optimizing product specifications and performance.

The NuMaker-NUC1263SD evaluation board and Nu-Link debugger are essential product evaluation and development tools. It also supports third-party IDEs such as Keil MDK, IAR EWARM, and Nuvoton's self-developed NuEclipse IDE, providing developers with more choices and convenience.
