Nuvoton NUC980 Chili platform provides a management solution for remote monitoring and control of Edge Computing

With the growing popularity of IoT, Edge Computing is becoming increasingly important. This distributed computing architecture moves data processing from the center of the network to the edge nodes, enabling faster and more efficient information processing; however, it also makes these edge computing devices scattered in various locations or across national borders, bringing many difficulties for device management. It is a new challenge to manage the numerous edge computing devices quickly and effectively.

Nuvoton's NUC980 Chili platform provides an out-of-band (OOB) solution for simple troubleshooting of remote devices and abnormalities, using independent channels of Ethernet or WiFi/4G for remote device maintenance, which can help enterprises simplify the management of scattered edge computing devices and solve the problem of not being able to control the devices when abnormalities occur. Coupled with SaaS (Software as a Service) technology, it allows users to quickly develop and deploy OOB management through a network connection to a cloud application, making it easier to manage numerous edge computing devices.

The NUC980 Chili platform features the industry's smallest LQFP64 package and built-in 64MB DRAM, which integrates multiple interfaces such as I2C (supports SMBus and PMBus), UART, SPI, etc. Moreover, it can be networked wirelessly via wired Ethernet or USB expansion for Wi-Fi, 4G LTE, etc. In addition, the BSP also has a variety of built-in network protocols, and OpenSSL (TLS) encrypted secure communication, suitable for OOB management development for remote monitoring and control of edge computing devices.

NUC980 Chili platform has built-in Linux Agent and plugIn programs with Allxon's Edge Device Management Solution, which allows customers to start using various services by logging in to their cloud accounts, significantly saving customers the cost of developing maintaining their cloud platforms.

In addition, Nuvoton combined with Allxon's first SaaS-in-Chip, which integrates SaaS for remote device management into NUC980 MPU, allowing quick deployment of OOB functions by simply equipping NUC980 MPU in edge computing devices, providing a complete one-stop solution (Turnkey Solution).
