NuMicro® M031BT Implements Photography Lighting Applications

With the popularity of online streaming services for sharing knowledge or topics, online live broadcasting has made the trend's positive curve. From professional groups to small individual live broadcasts, live broadcasting can now be carried out anytime and anywhere. Photographic equipment ushered in a new boom, including flashes, flash triggers, LED fill lights. Photography lights adopt wireless control methods such as 2.4G or Bluetooth transmission for convenient use in various scenes and require real-time and stability. NuMicro® M031BT series with Bluetooth Low Energy 5.0 (BLE5.0) and 2.4G proprietary runs up to 48 MHz operating frequency. The series features built-in 128 KB Flash and 16 KB SRAM, providing 12 channels of 96 MHz PWM for driving RGBW LED panels, multiple sets of I/O for the button design, and SPI for dot matrix LCD. In addition, there is ADC for detecting battery power and knob design; NuMicro® M031BT series offers precise analog control function and rich peripheral I/ O and provides the wireless dual-mode feature, which brings the advantages of integrated control and wireless transmission to the needs of lighting equipment design.

Nuvoton NuMicro® M031BT series provides BLE 5.0 and 2.4 GHz dual-mode functions, providing up to +8 dBm RF transmit power, -92 dBm receive sensitivity, and 1 Mb/s or 2 Mb/s transmission speed for RF applications. In addition, it can provide outstanding anti-noise performance in a 2.4GHz environment that meets the transmission distance requirements from 30 to 100 meters of photographic equipment applications. The NuMicro® M031BT series operates at a working voltage of 1.8~3.6V. It has a built-in 32-bit hardware multiplier/divider, up to 5-channel PDMA, 16-channel 12-bit 2 MSPS high sampling rate ADC and can run at 1.8V low voltage. In addition, to protect developers' intellectual property rights, an additional security protection Flash block (SPROM, Security Protection ROM) is embedded to provide an independent and secure encrypted execution area to protect critical program codes.

Compared with the classic use case of control MCU and wireless communication module, the NuMicro® M031BT series integrates control and wireless transmission functions. The QFN48 package area is only 5mm x 5mm, which is convenient to save PCB design space. In addition, Nuvoton provides sample code and the antenna reference design that makes Bluetooth low-energy application development easier.
