Does the LDO (Low Dropout Regulator) in the NuMicro® Family need to connect to an external capacitor?  Issue Date:2015-09-25

To stabilize the LDO output voltage in a chip, an external capacitor needs to be connected to the LDO output pin LDO_CAP. The capacitor needs to be close to the LDO_CAP pin. If the chip series has multiple LDO output pins, each LDO output pin requires an external capacitor.

According to different NuMicro® Family series, the value of an external capacitor for LDO_CAP may be different. Please refer to the following table:

NuMicro® Family Series

Minimum Value of an External Capacitor

Mini51 Series

Do not need an external capacitor.

Mini58 Series

Do not need an external capacitor.

In addition, LDO_CAP can be connected to a 0.1uF bypass capacitor to filter high frequency noise.
