What are the differences between UCID, UID and PDID?  Issue Date:2021-09-01

UCID – the ID by customers

UCID, Unique Customer ID, is an ID of a particular customer. Please be noted that the UCID is not a default data written in the IC, users should apply to Nuvoton and provide a specific code to put into the UCID. Once the UCID is written in the IC, the customer can have its own unique UCID to distinguish from other companies.

UID – the ID by chips

UID, unique ID, is an ID of a particular chip. In other words, every chip has its own unique UID.

Both UCID and UID can be used to protect the source code in the chip. Users can refer to the application note for more details.

PDID – the ID by products

PDID, part device ID, is an ID of a particular product. It means every Nuvoton’s part number has its own unique PDID.

If users want to use the same FW to produce 2 different products, which are 2 part numbers of Nuvoton, users can check the PDID to perform related actions in production.
