NuMicro® M2354 IoT Security Series MCU Devotes Chip-Level Physical Security and Ultra-Low-Power Performance to IoT Industry

M2354 Series inherits the security features of M2351 Series that has been PSA Certified™ Level 1, Level 2 and PSA Functional API Certified. In parallel, the M2354 Series can operate up to 96 MHz, and the 1 M-bytes Flash memory can support secure firmware over-the-air (OTA) update easily. With the multiple power management modes, M2354 Series has excellent low power performance with flexibility of operating modes. In Normal Run mode, it consumes 89.3 μA/ MHz with LDO power supply and 39.6 μA/ MHz with DC-DC power supply; less than 2 μA in Standby Power-Down mode. It is 0.5 μA for 80-bytes content retention of RTC registers in Deep Power-Down mode with VBAT power supply. It can further down to 0.1 μA without the retention of the 80-bytes content of RTC registers. Moreover, the series is also equipped with plenty of peripherals, including up to 8 x 40/ COM x SEG LCD panel driver, Timers, PWM, UART, Qual-SPI (QSPI), SPI/ I2S, I2C, Smart Card Interface  (ISO 7816-3), SDHC 2.0, USB 2.0 Full-Speed On-The-Go transceiver for device-only, host-only or ID-dependent function and CAN 2.0B.

NuMicro® M2354 Series is an Arm® Cortex®-M23 core based IoT security MCU series. In addition to the Arm®v8-M TrustZone® feature, it equips the countermeasures to its hardware crypto accelerators for Side-Channel Attacks and mitigation to the fault injection attacks of voltage and clock glitches. Furthermore, it introduces the Platform Security concept of secure microcontroller platform to provide the functions by Debug Port Management, Product Lifecycle Management, Firmware Version Counter, and Secure Key storage with chip-level tamper resistant. The overall features can ensure an MCU application system supporting Storage Security, Execution Security, and Connectivity Security.

The rich software resources elevate the adoption popularity of M2354. In addition to the free-to-use Arm® Keil MDK offering, the M2354 BSP (Board Support Package) includes a lot example programs for an MCU system development, crypto libraries including AES, RSA and ECC algorithms for diverse IoT security needs. There are more and more IoT security certification schemes in developing worldwide, in order to ease the development of the IoT security system, especially on the security deployment, Nuvoton provides the full reference source codes of Trusted Firmware-M (TF-M) as a template for software security development of MCU applications. As a real-time IoT operating system is required for small but complicated IoT devices to reduce design and cloud connecting barrier, M2354 Series supports multiple IoT OSs, including Mbed OS, FreeRTOS, RT-Thread for easy implementation of an IoT device and its connection to the cloud service.

With the M2354 debuting, the NuMicro® Cortex-M23 core based product portfolio can provide an enhanced security level for many appliances, especially the needs for authentication with IoT service clouds. The M2354 Series can support fast time-to-market with its robust security features for network-connected devices. These devices can be used as for smart home appliances including biometric door lock, secure wireless modules, smart wireless speakers, security systems; smart city appliances including smart meters, green energy control, power station sensors as well as other embedded systems with security concerns, like robotics, arcade machines.
