Security must be considered comprehensively for a safe product from the designing, developing, and assembling of the product until it reaches the hands of the users, and perform efficient management; this is called product life cycle management. In terms of MCU-type products, its product life cycle can be divided into chip vendors, original shipping status (OEM), product deployment status, and return merchandise authorization (RMA) status. Chip vendor status MCUs are manufactured at chip factories, then tested and set by the original manufacturer, and then they can be delivered to product manufacturers to perform the development and manufacturing of products. Take M2354 for example, when the chip was manufactured by the original manufacturer, it has an unchangeable and unique identification number (UID), and a UCID can also be set according to the customers’ needs. The MCU at this time does not include firmware and keys, and operations such as reading, programming, and debugging can

https://www.nuvoton.com/support/technical-support/technical-articles/TSNuvotonTechBlog-000178/
AMI-Application of Smart Meter Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) is the core infrastructure for the development of smart grids; AMI with networking capability can display information in real-time, allowing users and the power company to grasp the power usage status of the region and perform optimization management according to usage scenarios. Users can view the data recorded by the meter from mobile APP or the computer and adjust the usage of appliances to reduce unnecessary expenditures, and they can perform safety monitoring for power usage of their homes while at work or outdoors. Power company personnel can use remote viewing to check whether the status is normal, and the accumulated data can be applied in Big Data to analyze the power usage of each region to find the most suitable energy-saving and power dispatch solutions. It is an important and indispensable infrastructure for the pushing of both demand response and energy management.

Technical Blog / How Security is Security
https://www.nuvoton.com/support/technical-support/technical-articles/TSNuvotonTechBlog-000421/
With the rise of IoT applications in recent years, related issues have sprung up. Security in IoT has been widely discussed. Although the security issues seem to be very large and complex, it still has some guidance and method that could be referred which is based on experience. More and more frameworks and certifications have developed into a sound management mechanism based on them. The author believes that to achieve a complete IoT security consideration is from the end-to-end system problems. From this point of view, the IoT security problem can be slightly converged into "improving the security considerations of new network nodes". This article will start from the IoT node side, analyzing and discussing the microcontroller (MCU) chip architecture design of the endpoint device side in the IoT environment. Basic Security In general, secure transmission is designed to meet three requirements: Confidentiality, Integrity, and Authenticity.

ICP Tool ETM Settings 1. Download and install Nuvoton NuMicro ICP Programming Tool, and connect as shown in the figure below 2. Open the ICP Tool, specify the UI language and target chip, and then click Continue, as shown in Figure 7. Figure 7 Startup Screen of ICP Tool 3. In the ICP Tool window, the connection status is shown as “Disconnected” since the ICP tool has not been connected with the Nu-Link2-Pro, as shown in Figure 8. Figure 8 ICP Tool Main Window 4. Then click the Connect button. Go to (5) if more than two Nu-Link2-Pro are connected with the host. Go to (6) if only one Nu-Link2-Pro is connected with the host. 5. If two Nu-Link Adapters have been connected with the computer, a message appears and asks to select one from the two adapters. Clicking OK will connect the selected adapter with the host, as shown in Figure 9. When a Nu-Link2-Pro is selected for connection, the Status LED starts blinking. Figure 9 Select One Nu-Link2-Pro 6.
