Technical Blog / The world’s first hardware modulation microcontroller

2019 was the beginning of the 5G development cycle in Taiwan; with the development of 5G, the internet will become the future trend, and smart homes, smart factories, and even smart cities can be realized because of it. Therefore, 5G applications must be supported for infrastructure to networked devices; telecom operators also started planning 5G frequency bands and related transmission specifications for the coming of the 5G era. The optical module is an indispensable part of 5G networks; therefore, Nuvoton provided a set of complete optical module solutions – the NuMicro M030G/ M031G series; the M031G series is also the world’s first hardware modulation MCU. Whether it is an application in the data communication field to the telecommunication field or the universal optical modules used for existing optical transmission modules to the modulated optical modules used for the 5G fronthaul wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) scenarios, it can support all their application needs.

Work Environment

Positive Reinforcement Measures for EHS Management Contributions and Incentives To date, the EHS (Environmental, Health and Safety) management unit has continued to follow the P-D-C-A method and the spirit of continuous improvement to maintain our environmental, health and safety management system. Nuvoton is committed to advancing a culture of safety first in the workplace, with implementation from top to bottom to promote regular inspections by supervisors of all levels to discover potential risks and make improvements to improve the safety of work operations and the workplace environment. Personnel safety training and knowledge is not only a basic part of health and safety management, but it is also the main basis for enhancing a culture of safety first in the workplace. All employees who participate in regular EHS training, emergency response training and other related kinds of training can enhance their safety awareness and resilience.

Technical Blog / 【New infrastructure for ultra-high voltage series 1 of 3】Microcontroller Opportunities for the ultra-high voltage field

A stable and sufficient power source is one of the most important indexes for industrial and economic development; since the ultra-high voltage (UHV) technology is now mature and is used for the new generation smart power network topology, not only will it be the core of smart grids in the future, it will further become the leader for promoting the development of charging piles, industrial internet, and artificial intelligence, etc. Different power equipment is needed during the transmission process of electricity from generation, transmission, transformation, distribution to terminal electricity; and during the power intellectualization process, there are also development opportunities for the sensing equipment for distribution terminals and electrical terminals. There are many different product demands for the entire power applications, and the high anti-interference design and industrial application qualities of Nuvoton microcontrollers are great for the rigorous quality and

MA35D1 Series The NuMicro® MA35D1 series is a heterogeneous multi-core microprocessor targeted to high-end edge IIoT gateway. It is based on dual 64-bit Arm® Cortex®-A35 cores with speed up to 1 GHz, and one 180 MHz Arm® Cortex®-M4 core. Based on the high-performance cores, the MA35D1 series facilities the tiny AI/ML for edge computing. The MA35D1 supports 16-bit DDR2 and DDR3/ DDR3L SDRAM. For an easy system design and manufacture, the MA35D1 series also offers LQFP and BGA packages stacked with the DDR2/DDR3L SDRAM and density up to 512 MB, which significantly reduces PCB layer, size and electromagnetic interference (EMI). The MA35D1 series is a trusted system for IoT products' security requirements. It includes several advanced security mechanisms such as Nuvoton Trusted Secure Island (TSI) an isolated secure hardware unit, TrustZone, secure boot, tamper-detection, built-in cryptographic accelerators, and a TRNG, as well as Key Store and OTP memory.

Technical Blog / Forming complete security architecture for IoT application platforms with the open-source firmware TF-M from Arm

M2354 is a microcontroller manufactured by Nuvoton; its rich security designs make this microcontroller particularly suitable for applying in the security field, especially for IoT devices connected through the internet. Since IoT devices are exposed to the internet, they require sufficient security mechanisms to protect the privacy of users and prevent hacker attacks and intrusions from turning them into tools for hacking. In order the protect the security of networked devices, M2354 not only adopted the Arm V8-M Trust Zone architecture for its security design, it also uses the open-source firmware (TF-M) from Arm, forming complete security architectures for IoT application platforms together. The M2354 security platform is structured on an unmodifiable security component; it includes a bootloader, device life cycle management, cryptography hardware accelerator, Key Store, and Trust Zone technologies. It is used with a second bootloader process (BL2) that passed Root of Trust

Product and Technology / Launch of New Generation Battery Monitoring ICs for Automotive

Kyoto, Japan – Nuvoton Technology Corporation Japan (NTCJ) today announced 3rd generation enhanced functional safety battery monitoring ICs (BM-ICs) for automotive battery management system (BMS). Accelerate the electrification of automobiles toward carbon neutrality. Benefit Enhanced redundancy measurement system and communication function to facilitate development and design of BMS compliant with ASIL-D of in-vehicle functional safety standard (ISO26262). Achieved high-precision measurement with a voltage measurement error of 1.5 mV (our conventional product is at 2.5 mV) and realized BMS compatible with various types of battery cells and applications. Simplify in-vehicle battery system connecting 100 to 200 battery cells in series by measuring up to 20 series-connected battery cells with one IC, which is the highest level in the industry. / Please check here for details: https://www.nuvoton.com/products/battery-management/battery-monitoring-ics/automotive-qualified Battery electric
