Nuvoton Technology Holds Investor Conference for the third quarter of 2012
Hsinchu, Taiwan, R.O.C. - October 26, 2012 - Nuvoton Technology Corp. (TWSE: 4919) today (26), with the parent company, Winbond Electronics Corp. (TWSE: 2344), held a joint Investor Conference to report the third quarter operation result and forecast economic condition of the fourth quarter of 2012. The consolidated revenue of the third quarter of 2012 was approximately NT$1,935 million, a decrease of 14% from the previous quarter and an increase 2% compared the third quarter of 2011. The net income was NT$182 million, a decrease of 41% from the previous quarter, and an increase of 67% compared the third quarter of 2011. The third quarter EPS was NT$ 0.88, and the accumulated EPS of 2012 came to NT$ 2.85.
According to Nuvoton Technology, due to weak economies of Europe and America, slow-down market growth in China, and computer IC inventory adjustment, the revenue of General IC declined compared the previous quarter and the same period last year. Regarding the revenue of foundry service, not only seasonality but also the poor economic conditions in Europe and America to cause the decrease of 24.5% from the previous quarter. But benefited from the well growth of Embedded Flash and High Voltage Power IC Processes, the foundry revenue of the third quarter 2012 was brought up 25.1% compared the same period of 2011.
In the third quarter of 2012, Nuvoton Technology launched a series products of low power ARM® Cortex™-M0 32-bit microcontrollers to continually expand the applications on non-touch products. In the coming November, Nuvoton will hold the symposium touring around 13 cities both in Taiwan and China, actively enhancing market share and widening the competition gaps by their completed product portfolios. Meanwhile, the launch of Windows 8 advantaged Embedded Controller for x86 tablet application and SafeKeeper TM TPM (Trusted Platform Module). In addition, Foundry business kept promotion of 700V High Voltage Process and ramped up 0.35um/5V Power Management Process.
Regarding the progress of the new product, in the fourth quarter of 2012, Nuvoton plans to roll out ARM® Cortex™ M0 NuVoice™ Family for advanced toy market and ARM® SoC N329 Family for consumer electronics products, which owns the function of Wi-Fi and USB and will be one of feature products for promotion as well. Furthermore, new eSIO fits 2013 Intel Shark Bay Platform, can be applied for AIO/DT, will be released in the fourth quarter. It fully demonstrates Nuvoton’s synchronization process with the industry leader on the products development.
For the outlook of the industry for the fourth quarter 2012, Nuvoton said the fourth quarter is traditionally the low-season for general IC and foundry industry.
