Nuvoton Technology Announces Financial Results for the Third Quarter of 2011
Hsinchu, Taiwan, R.O.C. - October 27, 2011 - Nuvoton Technology Corp. (TWSE: 4919) today (27) announced the preliminary financial results for the third quarter of 2011. The consolidated revenue of the third quarter are approximately NT$1,905 million, and net income are NT$109 million, with EPS of NT$0.53.
According to Nuvoton Technology, because economic situation in Europe and America is unstable and the market condition of China is below expectation, the market of consumer IC is generally not well in the third quarter leading to the situation that the industry appears to be depressed in the peak season. However, the steady delivery of new products (i.e., ARM® Cortex™ - M0 32-bit MCU on multi-touch products, embedded controller on the Tablet and Ultrabook, IC for Education Learning Aid (ELA)) effectively reduces the impact of recession on the revenue from general IC. The revenue from foundry service shows decline in the third quarter which fully reflects the influence of poor economy in Europe and America on the clients, along with the situation of orders in advance caused by worries about the incapacity of the second quarter has come to an end.
Looking forward to the economy of the fourth quarter, Nuvoton Technoloby said the fourth quarter is traditionally the low-season for general IC and foundry industry and the uncertainty of economy in Europe and America is still high. In response to this situation, Nuvoton plans to continue introducing new products and expanding the application of market segments to resist the unfavorable external environment. For example, Nuvoton recently launched ARM® Cortex™-M0 32-bit MCU - NuMicro™ new Mini51 series to expand its MCU product application market, and held several new product launches in mainland China, which attracted thousands of designers to participate, expected to effectively increase market share in China. In addition, in today’s conference, Nuvoton also showed the quality optimized chip - MaxxAudio® NPCA110x series collaborated with the 2011 Technical GRAMMY Award® in the United States, world leading professional developer of audio digital signal, Waves Audio Ltd. With superior processing ability, this chip can break through the innate limit of tiny speaker, resulting in high-quality speaker sound. This new product can be widely used in TV, Sound Bar, computer products, mobile phones and multimedia products, etc. The new products presented today also brought refreshing feelings to attending investors and will become new power to future revenue growth for Nuvoton.
