Nuvoton Technology Holds Investor Conference for the second quarter of 2013

Hsinchu, Taiwan, R.O.C. - August 2, 2013 - Nuvoton Technology Corp. (TWSE: 4919) Today (2), with the parent company, Winbond Electronics Corp.(TWSE: 2344), held a joint Investor Conference to report the second quarter operation result and forecast economic condition of the third quarter of 2013. The consolidated revenue of the second quarter of 2013 was approximately NT$1,901 million, an increase of 16% from the previous quarter. The net income was NT$ 115 million, an increase of 75% compared with the first quarter of 2013. The first half of 2013 EPS was NT$ 0.87.

According to Nuvoton Technology, since 32-bit microcontroller applications continued to grow, and the second quarter was the traditional peak season for consumer IC industry and foundry, which led the first-quarter revenue growth over the previous quarter; meanwhile, as rising capacity utilization and product portfolio optimization, the gross margin of second quarter 2013 pushed up 1.5%. However, due to the weakness of global PC market, second quarter revenue decline over last year.

Nuvoton Technology continued brining innovation into full play on new products and applications in the second quarter, specific outcomes including new ARM® 9 SoC for IP CAM and Voice Recognition Home Appliance, ARM® Cortex™-M0 32-bit Ultra-Low Power MCU for Industrial Control and Sensor HUB, and new Generation Embedded Controller, eSuper IO, Super IO for Intel® Haswell.

To forecast the industry boom of third quarter 2013, Nuvoton Technology said that Audio Application IC Market demand is expected to grow, while demand of the PC market, the sales of Intel® Haswell computer and Windows 8.1 launch will be the focus of observation.

In the third quarter, Nuvoton Technology continues to develop new products and new application, the key projects including ARM® Cortex™-M4 32-bit MCU for High-End market, ARM® Cortex™-M0 Based Audio SoC for Home Entertainment, new Power IC for Mother Board, Server and Datacenter, new Voltage Level Shift IC for HDMI, new Trusted Platform Module(TPM) for Windows 8 and Chromebook, and new Embedded Controller integrated with Sensor Fusion.
