Nuvoton Technology Corporation Japan (hereafter referred to as "Nuvoton") is the first Japanese semiconductor company* to receive the ISO/SAE 21434 process certification from SGS-TÜV Saar GmbH, a German certification body.

We have long been working to strengthen our security technology with the aim of " Realize a safe and happy society that is close to all people".　In order to ensure that our customers can use our automotive products and services with confidence, we have established a Cyber Security Management System (CSMS) for automotive semiconductor products in accordance with ISO/SAE 21434 "Road vehicle - Cybersecurity engineering" with the cooperation of SGS Japan Inc.

While connected cars, which have been on the rise in recent years, are expected to improve convenience for users, the risk of being the victim of cyber-attacks such as car theft, hijacking, and theft of personal information is also increased. The global automotive industry has worked together to reduce this cybersecurity risk, establishing UN regulations (UNR-155/156) and establishing international standards (ISO/SAE 21434).

Cyber-attacks exploit vulnerabilities in the E/E (Electrical & Electronic) systems of automobiles, so the entire lifecycle of an automobile, from development, manufacturing, and use to disposal, as well as the supply chain of its components, must be managed to prevent vulnerabilities from being introduced. In addition, it is necessary to respond to new vulnerabilities caused by the evolution of attack methods.

As a supplier of automotive semiconductor products, which are the core of automotive E/E systems, we will provide our products to which the established CSMS has been applied, and we will continue to contribute to the realization of a safety and security automotive society by acquiring TÜV product certification under ISO/SAE 21434 when necessary.
