Nuvoton Technology Corporation (TSE: 4919) and its parent company, Winbond Electronics Corporation (TSE: 2344), held a joint investor conference today (07) to announce 2016 operating results and 2017 outlooks. The consolidated revenue in 2H 2016 was NT$ 4.254 billion. Net income after tax in 2H 2016 was NT$ 274 million and EPS after tax was NT$ 1.32, an increase of 29% compared to same period in 2H 2015. The consolidated revenue in 2016 was NT$ 8.329 billion. Net income after tax in 2016 was NT $ 613 million and EPS after tax was NT$ 2.95, an increase of 31% compared to the same period in 2015.

Nuvoton’s had solid results due to the growth of new products and applications, including continuous shipments of ARM® Cortex® - M0 microcontroller in emerging markets and mass market, as well as ARM® Cortex® - M4 microcontroller and ARM® 9 SOC for industrial control applications and the launch of audio codec for tablet and Chromebook. Meanwhile, the shipments of ARM® Cortex® - M4 SIO, EC, TPM and Power Management IC, which support Intel Skylake and Kabylake were stable. The main reasons driving growth of revenue were from ARM® Cortex® - M0, ARM® Cortex® - M4 microcontrollers and system-on-chip ARM® 9, as well as with the shipments of PC IC which support Intel Skylake and Kabylake. As for foundry services, shipments of 0.35um 40V BCD process used in power management remained stable.

Nuvoton passed FIPS (Federal Information Processing Standards) certification and becomes the world's only TPM 2.0 IC supplier with FIPS, Common Criteria EAL4 + and TCG (Trusted Computing Group) certifications, which indicates that the quality and reliability of Nuvoton’s high -tech safety products has been recognized by the international standard. Nuvoton also has continued to expand USB Type-C digital audio IC in mobile devices.

Looking forward to 2017, Nuvoton will continuously develop ARM® Cortex® - M series microcontrollers, which have both high performance and low power consumption. Simultaneously, Nuvoton will release new PC IC which to be used not only for gaming but also for Intel® Purley server platform and new audio IC which to be applied to sound enhancement. Furthermore, Nuvoton continues to expand product applications, including audio codecs used in computer (PC Stick) and Chromebook. Regarding foundry business, Nuvoton offers a number of new processes such as 0.35um 140V / 600V for motor drive HVIC process and 0.35um 60V / 80V BCD Power Management IC manufacturing process, in order to meet the diverse needs of customers.
