Nuvoton Technology Corporation (TSE: 4919) and its parent company, Winbond Electronics Corporation (TSE: 2344), held a joint investor conference today (28) to announce 1H’16 operating results and future prospects. The consolidated revenue in 1H’16 was NT$ 4.75 billion, an increase of 15% compared to the same period in 2015. Net income in 1H’16 was NT $ 339 million, and earnings per share was NT $ 1.63, an increase of 32% compared to same period in 2015.

The main growth of revenue was from ARM® Cortex® - M0, ARM® Cortex® - M4 microcontrollers and system-on-chip ARM® 9 for industrial control and mass market applications. In addition, the shipment of TPM (Trusted platform module) which supports Intel Skylake, power IC, SIO (Super I / O) and EC (Embedded Controller) continued growing.

Nuvoton’s had solid results in the first half due to the growth of new products and applications, including continuous shipment of audio codec for IP Camera and Chromebook , as well as ARM® Cortex® - M0 microcontroller to emerging markets and mass market applications. Meanwhile, Nuvoton has continued to expand ARM® Cortex® - M4 microcontrollers with ARM® 9 SOC for industrial control applications. ARM® Cortex® - M4 SIO and EC, TPM and power management IC which supports Intel Skylake started mass production. Foundry services of 0.35um 40V BCD process used in power management IC has also been mass production. Nuvoton passed FIPS (Federal Information Processing Standards) certification and becomes the world's only TPM 2.0 IC supplier with FIPS, Common Criteria EAL4 + and TCG (Trusted Computing Group) certifications, which indicates that the quality and reliability of Nuvoton’s safety products has been recognized by the international standard.

Looking forward to the future, Nuvoton will launch ARM® Cortex® - M series microcontrollers, which have both high performance and low power consumption. Besides, Nuvoton will release not only new computer gaming IC which will be applied to Intel® Purley server platform but also digital audio IC with USB Type-C interface for mobile devices. Furthermore, Nuvoton continues to expand product applications, including audio codecs used in computer (PC Stick) and Chromebook and TPM 2.0 IC used in desktop computers, notebook computers and servers. Regarding foundry business, Nuvoton offers a number of new processes such as 0.35um 600V / 140V for motor drive HVIC process and 0.35um 60V / 80V BCD Power Management IC manufacturing process, in order to meet the diverse needs of customers.
