Nuvoton Technology Holds Investor Conference for the third quarter of 2014
Nuvoton Technology Corp. (TSE: 4919) Today (24), and parent company, Winbond Electronics Corporation (TSE: 2344), held a joint Investor Conference to report third quarter operations and forecast economic conditions for the fourth quarter of 2014. Consolidated revenue for the third quarter of 2014 was approximated NT$1,792 million, a decrease of 5% from the previous quarter and an increase of 3% compared to the third quarter of 2013. Net income was about NT$88 million and a decrease of 51% from the previous quarter and an increase of 61% compared to the third quarter of 2013. The Earnings per share was NT$ 0.42.
According to Nuvoton, the coming of traditional slow season for Consumer and Foundry Service industries.
Nuvoton stated that revenue during the third quarter declined compared to the second quarter due to seasonal influences on its foundry services. However, due to the fact that the consumer business is continuing to grow, and that demand on the PC market is warming up, its current quarter revenue has improved compared to the same period last year.
Nuvoton upholds the spirit of innovation and continues to make breakthroughs in products. Nuvoton has released the ARM® Cortex® - M4 32-bit M451 microcontroller series and the new SIO and EC, which support the Intel SkyLake platform. The M451 series microcontroller includes the M451, the M452 - USB OTG, the M453 – CAN and USB OTG, all of which are mainly used in the industrial field, consumer electronics products and the field of automotive electronics applications. The M451 series has a memory capacity of 40 KB to 256 KB as well as a variety of packaging, ranging from 48 pin to 100 pin. The extensive possible combinations of products fully meet different customers’ application needs. To better fit the needs of the wider market, Nuvoton’s M451 series uses pin-compatible designs on its IO signal input and output pins. When customers start using these new products, they will not have to change the design of their circuit boards, enabling them to transition over quickly.
At the start of the traditional slow season for the foundry service and the sale of PC and consumer electronics, Nuvoton has announced that it will be releasing a new ARM® Cortex® - M0 based Audio SoC. After closely observing and analyzing market dynamics, Nuvoton is confident that this product can promote further growth. Nuvoton has held roadshows regarding the 14 NuMicro ARM® Cortex® - M based 32-bit MCU in Taiwan and China, providing customers with interactive and face-to-face consulting services. In the fourth quarter, Nuvoton will continue to promote the ARM® Cortex® - M4 32-bit microcontroller series, while gradually launching ARM® Cortex® - M innovative products and solutions. This will enable Nuvoton’s microcontroller combinations to become even more comprehensive in meeting the increasingly diverse needs of the application market, including the industrial automation, consumer electronics products, personal health care, wearable devices, intelligent homes, financial card reader devices, smart home, the LED field, the car industry, automotive applications, and physical networking applications.
